Another use for the 2CV

Trenches

John has been digging for the last week trenches round the back in order to fit pipes for the rainwater harvesting and the silt trap for the French drain. Mercifully the soil was dry and the earth/clay/rubble  was relatively easy to shift. Also made a start on foundations for the rainwater harvest storage tanks.
Now waiting before carrying on to sort some settlement issues and boundary fence position with neighbour John

Kitchen progressing

The damp concrete caused by the leak is slowly drying, everyday I progress slowly and steadily with the painting of the cupboards and yesterday we at last put the wall tiles up! Miraculously they fit perfectly each side of the window (John says it is due to his calculations - I think it's pure luck). And they look just as we had hoped. Excellent! Grouting today.

Making the sink worktop

Forgot to say we found a leak!! It looked like a drip had been dripping from a badly tightened stopcock when Jake fitted the water meter 5 days ago. A lot of water has been gathering in the screed..

A man of many talents

Digging an additional gulley for the rainwater harvesting system. A lot of rubble to shift!
Whitewashing the ceilings is hard on the arms...
Ah but we have fun in the cupboard under the stairs!

Kitchen cupboards

The sink is in place
We are trying to work out how to assemble Ikea's soft close drawer. It is Richardson versus Ikea. Richardson won!
The iroko (laboratory worktops reclaimed from Swanmore Middle School) worktop in place. John worked out where the holes for sink and gas hob would fit best.
South side, future tall cupboard with future washing machine and fridge in either side.
